I found my gt.grandfather on CWGC site, he died in WW1 age 37, must have been one of the last to be called up at that age. He dies just a couple of months before the war ended. I bought my poppy when I visited City of London cemetery on Sunday.

Marcia, We will be thinking of you. I bought my poppy on Monday from a lovely old soldier in a wheelchair. I put a reasonable amount of money in his box and asked if I could take 4 poppies for the rest of the family. He said I could take as many as I liked as so many people were just passing him by. I thought that so sad! Elisabeth

Thats lovely Marcie, not surprised you feel choked I do hearing that too. I bought my poppy a few days ago and had a little lump as I paid for it thinking this year of my great uncle who was killed in WW1 at just 19. I've stuck my poppy to my computer monitor as it always falls off or looks shabby after a few days. Regards Penny

this morning i had an e-mail from a church (where one of my ancesters Frank Bunch has a memorial from the 1st ww )saying that on 11/11 they will specially mention him in their service, we went to the church to look at the memorial and spoke to one of the church wardens about frank in june and were really helpful, but i am really choked over this, i shall take mum (his neice) spect i will grizzle marcie
