Hi, Anyone know if other sites, such as 1837 and census 1901, accept debit cards as well as credit!! I'm too scared too use my credit card anymore, its all maxed up!! Sarah

My card is a Halifax switch card. I got all blooming exited as well once i'd made the decision to join. I was only going for the Quaterly subscription as well. Its a real let down 'cos I love the thrill of the search! Thank you girls, for your comments, & your willingness to help. Elaine x

I have a VISA Debit Card from Lloyds TSB, and they accepted that ok. I won't have a credit card, because I know I'd go straight to the limit and then be in trouble. Jan

Elaine Stick to your guns girl and don't let your family tree get you in bother - pay as you go is by far the best way!! If you get stuck, just post a note and we will help you out where we can - free of charge. At least you are clever enough to know you would probably get in trouble in you got a Visa card. Just remember that and DON'T give in!!! You CAN survive without Ancestry - honest!!

Well I have never subscribed to ancestry and have managed so far. I think you are very sensible not to have a credit card. I know loads of people who are seriously in trouble with them. Helena

After posting a thread on this board, regarding the pro's & cons of subscribing to Ancestry. I decided just now, to subscribe to Ancestry co uk. After filling out their form, I got to card details only to find I can only use a credit card. (I only have a debit card!!) I'm really fed up now. I dare not apply for a credit card as I dont trust myself what with xmas coming, to spend, spend ,spend!! I would have thought that as g.c accept (as do 1901 & 1837) a debit card Ancestry would to! elaine
