I believe the overseas registers are included on 1837 on-line - worth a look if you know the date. Maz. XX

Hello Mary You could try family Records Centre www(.)familyrecords(.)gov(.)uk/frc It hold some records of birth, baptism, marriage and death of servicemen and their families. Or Oriental and India Office Collections, British Library www(.)bl(.)uk/collections/orientalandindian(.)html Records include indexed cadet papers(1789-1860), often including baptism certificates and parents names and depot registers, which include age, place of birth and physical description. I realise the dates are different but, it could be a start for you. Good Luck Shirley

If her father was in the army, there should be a record of it at the GRO. I think they put these at the back of the index Go to the record office board and see Zoe`s thread titled FRC Zoe may be able to look for you.

My ancestors are from Southern Ireland, but my great-grandmother was born in Bangalore, India c1871. I assume her father was in the British Army. Is it possible to get a birth certificate for her birth? Unfortunately I don't have her parents names. Any ideas please? Regards Margaret
