Hello Have you tried 'Lost London Streets'? I'm afraid I lost my addresses in a cleanup session but if you look in a search engine it will bring it up. It wont give you a map but it will give you an idea whether it has completely disappeared or been renamed and an idea where it is/was. Sylvie |

I have an old street map of London which I use for my ownreference. I am not sure how old it is exactly but it does quote prices for Hackney cab rides in d's. Am happy to have a look if you give me the address. |

Thanks April, Just had a look, the street is listed on there but infortunately it does not link to a map to tell me where it was. I think I'm asking too much! Jeannie |

Thanks Kathleen but I've tried that one and the street in question does not appear on it. I think that the problem is that the bombing in the war probably destroyed some of the old streets, hence I need pre-war maps. I have the same problem with a church where my great grandparents were married. Jeannie |

Does anyone know if there is a web-site for old maps where you can enquiry via the Street Name. i.e. like a modern A-Z. My ancestors came from the East End of London, I have tried the old maps website mentioned here before but it is just a bit heavy on the 'mince pies' (eyes) trying to find a street just by looking at the map on screen.
