Hi Julie I took this off a Welsh website: In 1974 the British government at Westminster, England formed Powys by combining Three Shires, Radnorshire, Montgomeryshire and Breconshire. In 1996 the three shires were restored to their original boundaries. Today Powys is the administrative body responsible for Health and Education. Hope it helps. Sue

Hi again, my gr. grandmother was supposedly born in Llandrindod S.Wales in 1885. Edith Jane Davies. Well I`ve found Llandrindod on the old maps site and it says it`s in the county of Radnorshire. I`ve never heard of this county (or am i just ignorant) so i was wondering whether the county Radnorshire has been renamed since. I know my gr. grandmother got married in Llandovery ( know where that is) but getting a bit confused with all these welsh names. Thanks for any help Julie.
