Hi Jacky, Yes, I've tried that. It did bring up some children but it doesn't seem likely that they are my lot. Handy to remember this for future research though so thank you for the advice. Helen

Another way to search would be to go into familysearch(see links) and put in the parents names if you know them. This will bring up all children who have parents with those names (and there are usually quite a few couples who have children of the same names) and you can eliminate by area maybe. This can also show children who may have been born and died between census dates. I have found some that way. Jacky

Siobhan, Thanks for your help. I think the Edward and Sarah living in Poplar are the correct ones as I have Edward snr's birthcert and the place of birth is def Maidstone, don't know why they forgot Edward jnr though! According to Edward and his sister Louisa's birthcerts Sarah Ann's maiden name was Graceton but expect this has been misspelt. Eileen, Thank you for your note about 1891 census. These might be the correct family but I'd be interested to know whether the Edwards were labourers? Helen x

Hello Helen, i think i have found your family on the 1891 census. i have copied the page and if you send your e-mail details i will scan it over to you. The details i have found are: Edward Terry born Bermondsey London age 50 Sarah aged 40 Edward aged 19 born Poplar, John aged 17 born Poplar, Jessie aged 10 born Bermondsey, frederick aged 6 born Bermondsey, Walter aged 4 born Bermondsey, there is no mention of a Louisa. The family are living at 42 Silverwood St in the sub district of Rotherhithe, St Katharines London. This is in the regestration district of St Olave Southwark RG12/385 folio 64 page 31. Hope this helps Eileen p.s. let me know if you need me to look on ancestry.com again.

what was the mothers maiden name

Helen

Helen Report 6 Nov 2003 16:45

Thank you! He was called Edward Robert Terry (born 1879 in Poplar, East London), his parents were called Edward Terry (born circa 1852 in Maidstone, Kent) and Sarah Ann Terry (born circa 1855 in Greenwich, London/Kent). I've found his sister Louisa born in 1885 in Poplar but guess there were probably some other children. I can't find any marriage for Sarah & Edward snr so there might be some children born before Edward Robert. Helen

I am trying to find out whether my great grandfather had any other brothers and sisters other than the one sister I know about (cannot locate them on 1881 and 1891 census at the moment and only one sister found on 1901). Is there any website that allows you to enter the parents names and area and then produces a list of children whose parents share the same names?
