How often are electoral rolls produced?

Hi, At the time you are searching only property owning men had the vote. There wasn't universal franchise until 1928 but married women could vote before that. Gwynne

Aren't electoral registers lists of people who can vote? Ladies didn't get the vote until early C20th and from what I remember most men couldn't vote in C19th either. Thus, I don't think a register will exist with Charles and Esther on it. Someone else can give the dates hopefully!

I don't think that Elect, held that information. Only Census records hold that information. If you have their marriage certificate you will be able to get his fathers name and occupation. There may also be a family witness to the wedding. Then it will be checking the births 1853-1857 note the ones and see if you can find them on the 1861 census with the right fathers name. Also note that not all births were recorded until 1875. A lot were missed Other than ordering all the certificates there is not much you can do. I did find a Esther with a young Arthur aged 1 in the 1881 census she is a widow is this your Esther.

I need to find an electoral roll that contains Charles and Esther Howe between 1877 and 1879 together. What I need to know is where the Charles was born. They married in 1877 and he was aged 22. Please look in the London, Middlesex or Cambridge areas. Thanks Fi
