Hi Linda, Perhaps you were thinking of www.ukbmd.org.uk/ Where you can list your certs? Debbie

Hi, The alternative to marriage certs is to search the parish records. I know of no alternative for birth certs. You can narrow it down by finding him on census and thus the names of his parents then you can apply to the ONS for a cert saying you only want it if the parents are ****** and *******. You will still be charged for a search but that'd cheaper than a cert. The alternative is to apply to the local registrar who often return the cheque if they can't find it. Hope this helps, Gwynne

I seem to remember reading on here a while ago that there was somewhere to get the basic info on acertificate without buying it. I am trying to find the birth of my Grandfather whos name was George Smith, I have so many options I don't know what to do ,I have already paid for two wrong ones. Anyone any ideas?
