WW2 death not recorded?

I had two great uncles who died in the 2nd WW. Both are listed on the War Graves site with dates of death. However when I tried to track down their death certificates only one of them is listed. Were War deaths often not recorded on time or could the date possibly be wrong on the War graves site. I have searched a year either side of the date but can find nothing.

I have several ancestors who used their middle names (or first names, depending on how they felt that day). Could your relative have used a different name? Like James Joseph instead of Joseph James?

Hi Lorraine. As far as I know War deaths were not registered at the time but done en bloc at the end of the war - or at least 2 of ours were. Ring Southport for the procedure for ordering certificates in these cases. Regards. Keith
