Hello again Margaret Drummond, the 1881 was an error. You have already given me a great start with my Great Grandmother's family, do you remember it was Helen Watt's family. I was looking for in, Arbroath, you gave me Alexander Watt and Helen Rose. I'm now trying to get more info on them, where else they lived etc. that's why I needed that extra info, I had hoped it might lead me to find out something, about her daughter Lillian Watt, who was born in 1863 I thought this might lead me to my Grandfather by tracing each step, up until on the 1901 census when we find my G.G.mother was 33 and Lillian her daughter was 9 they where living at 17,Claremont street, in Manchester on the 1901 census. Again as I've said before I'm grateful for any help!! Regards Val

Hi Val, To search and download BMD certificates for Scotland, I suggest that you try scotlandspeople.gov.uk. You will also find the 1881, 1891 and 1901 Censuses. It's pay to view but well woth the money. £6 will get you 30 credits. One search of 25 entries = 1 credit. Certificates = 5 credits. If you need any look ups for Scotland on the 1881, send me the details and I will have a look for you. I think for Electoral rolls you might have to go to a library in the area but not sure what areas are covered. Let me know if you need more help. Regards Margaret

Val FreeBMD is that, free! http://freebmd(.)rootsweb(.)com/ remove brackets you don't have to be a member, there are instructions on how to use the site. As for the electoral registers: you may have to visit the local County Record Office (local to where you are looking) Margaret
