Hi all, I hope you can give me some pointers as to how I can locate a marriage. George Roles 1765-1826 was born and died in Evercreech , Somerset. He married a Lucy born 1763 place unknown and she died in 1825 in Evercreech. How can I find where they were married to get her maiden name and any children born early in the marriage? The only thing I can think of is trawling all the Somerset parish recorda until I find them- the problem is that this could be a very time consuming if not impossible task. I would be very grateful for anybodies ideas. Many thanks, Sinead |

Sinead, Can't help with the marriage unfortunately but thought I'd let you know just in case you weren't aware Evercreech parish records are databased on ancestry(.)co(.)uk - I had a look and no sign of George and Lucy although there is a birth for George Rowles 1808 son of George and Lucy Rowles. Also have you seen www.angelfire(.)com/or/evercreech/ Emma. |

Hi Emma, apologies- you must think me really ignorant! I've been off line for a few days due to problems with my eldest boy. Yes I have the son, but ancestry does not seem to have their marriage. I have been to the angelfire site and got some good info- unfortunately not for this marriage!! Never mind- i'll keep trying,it is bound to turn up sooner or later. Many thanks, Sinead |

Check Boyd's marriage index if you haven't already, as several Somerset parishes are in it The Society of Genealogists library has a big collection of transcripts, many typed, some indexed -- could be a lot easier to search than the original registers or BTs |
