Sorry for all the posts but a thought on US births....you more than likely will not find a site that gives birth dates on a living person at a free site. Since 9-11, there have been all kinds of privacey acts passed here to protect ones privacey. One can no longer even go in the doctors office and have the receptionist call you by your surname....first names only are used. It's even difficult to obtain ones own birth certificate let alone information on another living person. Renewing your drivers license has become a nightmare unless you have numerous pieces of documentation stating you are who you are and you can't use your old drivers license as proof of who you are....go figure. On living persons you might have some luck at a site such as www(.)ussearch(.)com which is a site that, for a small fee, will give you information on where a person is living....I don't know, though, if it would reveal to you anything other than the persons age, place of residence and their land tax information, which is public information anyway. Social Security Death Index revealed the following on Horace Brownsey: Born June 22, 1900. Died February, 1968. Last known residence was 44094 Willoughby, Lake, Ohio. A good indication then, to look for his children would be in the State of Ohio. Horace's social security #285-05-5387. Running out now but will see what I can find for you a little on the other names you listed a little later tonight (US time.) Judy

I noticed my e-mail address did not post on last posting so I will try leaving it another way: Kabduy(@)aol(.) com. (Remember to remove the brackets when e-mailing!)

One can get a birthdate, as well as death date and place of death on someone who has died in the States at the Social Security Death Index portion of Ancstry.com. Although this part of the site was once free, I just checked, and you now have to be a subscriber in order to get the information. You can, however, without a subscrition, see if the person you are looking for is listed. If you'd like, I have a subscription, and would be more than happy to look anything up for you....just drop me a line via e-mail. Listed with the information on birth, death, and place of death, the deceased Social Security Number is given. With the SS # you can send away for a copy of the application the person originally filled out when they applied for their number....which often reveals other information that may be of interest to a genealogist (ie parents, mothers maiden name, place of birth, atc....) You can e-mail me [email protected]. Just a note: Everyone in the States is required by law to have a Social Security number.....it's out goverments way of keeping track of us! Judy

Trish, Try www.searchsystems.net and select the state. Some states have free records. Crista

Does anyone know if there is a free way to find American births in the 1930's (ish). Looking for children of Gladys Warning (born 1905). Husbands first name or date of marriage unknown - Yes I know I'm difficult! Also looking for any children of Horace and Evelyn Brownsey at about the same time. Tall order but I thought I'd ask anyway. Cheers.
