Work out when you think it should be and start there. You ahve to be incredibly patient and methodical. Look carefully at each quarter and dont forget to cross refernce. I wish you good luck. I had real problems fnidng my grans marriage certificate and the people at Liverpool were very helpful. Don't forget there were a number of register offices in Liverpoolbefore they put them altogether. Unfortunately for me my hours of research proved fruitless when a family member confirmed my gran had not married my grandad. But you have to look don't you! |

Keep looking, Barbara. I thought my grandparents hadn't married because I couldn't find them in the St Cath's indexes. However I found their marriage on Lancashire BMD, 21 years after the first child was born. He eventually made an honest woman of her! Lilian |

Hi Lilian, no it definitley didn't happen. But the great thing was that after discovering all of that, we found my mum had a half sister and they are now in contact, so lots of good came out of my fruitless search! |

My top tip is to make sure you keep a record of all searches which were NOT successful. Trust me it'll save you hours in the future! Anne |
