Eleanor, I am so deeply sorry for you, and your family, and though nothing anyone can say will ease your pain i would like to pass on this poem that i was given when i lost someone i loved very much. The light whispered to my soul last night as it took my hand to guide me in flight angels carried me amidst the wind with tender song now free from sin. The light whispered to my soul last night to open my eyes to a new first sight glory abounded as i saw him stand God reached for me and took my hand The light whispered to my soul last night no judgement day, no wrong, no right not death or loss but birth of life free from struggle, free from strife The light whispered to my soul last night peace be with you on your journey to light tender kisses for those who remain only to whisper, until we meet again. with deepest sympathy Yvette

Dear Eleanor I lost my mum 5 weeks ago and I understand the pain you are feeling. It is something you have no understanding of until someone close to you is taken and as you say the pain is intense. I have taken some comfort from being able to talk about mum with my dad and 2 sisters as we all live in the same village and are a close family. I agree with you entirely about letting loved ones know how much they mean to you and I feel privileged to have been able to tell and show my mum how loved she was. Try and take each day as it comes and give in to your grief, as I am sure this is the only way to get through it. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Sheila

Eleanor, so sorry to hear about your sister. I know what you're going through as my brother died suddenly aged just 30 - this was over 20 years ago now and I still miss him at times. Things will get better for you though and as you say, let people know how much you care for them today and don't leave it until it's too late. I'm sure your sister knew she was loved by you though. Thinking of you Trish

Eleanor, I am so sorry to hear that you have lost your sister so suddenly and at such a young age. The very suddenness of it is such a shock, I lost my husband very suddenly and quite unexpectedly so I can understand. Outside the world is carrying on as usual, not understanding the devastating loss you have suffered. It does seem so unfair but your sister did know how much you loved her and was feeling very happy. I can only tell you that, in time, the pain does ease. It never goes away but you do learn to cope with it. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Kathleen

Dear Eleanor This is the first time I have been to this board so I hope this reply is coming to you. I was very sad to read you had lost your sister at such a young age. It must be a terrible shock. I am 36 and My brothers are 42 and 45 and I couldn't imagine what it must feel like. The one thing I am sure of is that the way you have just written about your sister really shows how much you loved her and she must have realised that too. She died at a time of knowing that you all cared for her because you were making the effort to arrange a party just for her and that takes love and caring to be bothered. I wish I could help you feel better but I fortunatley have little experience of these things. I have taken on board what you have said about telling those around you how much you love them and I will. I'm sorry you had such a short time together but it sounds like it was a happy and full of love time so remember that . She wouldn't want you to be sad. Best wishes to you and your family. Angelina

My big sister Penny died on Saturday morning and it's just bloody horrible. She was the most amazing person you could have ever met. She suffered all her life but brought so much life to the world and so much love to everyone she met. Saturday was her 40th birthday and she had been so excited about the party we had arranged for her and was so looking forward to seeing all her friends and family who were coming to celebrate with her that evening. She died at 6am. It's so unfair. She wasn't ill and no one could have predicted she would die like this. Please make sure you tell those you love that you love them whenever you can. You don't ever know what is going to happen tomorrow. I have never known pain like this. The past is important but the present is vital. Eleanor
