I have a Rachel Wood born Gloucester (possibly Dursley) in 1842 Her father was called Joseph and he was a saddler and I think she had a sister called Sarah Ellen Wood. I did find an entry on an internet site that possibly showed the family in Dursley 1851. Certainly there was Joseph Wood, Sadler age 48 If you come across him I would be very grateful for the information! He appears to have had children, Edward, Joseph, Osmond, James, Rachel and John accrding to the entry above. Thanks Barbara

Ann Any information on the Teale family either in Dumbleton or in Elmstone Hardwick or Swindon village, Cheltenham, would be very much appreciated. Also, Pitman in Deerhurst and Wood in Gotherington. Thanks for your help Best wishes Neil

Hi Ann; This is probably too obscure a look up, but anything you can tell me would be a great help. My ggggrandfather Joseph Benjamin Walker was born in Cheltenham about 1836. On his marriage certificate his father's name is also listed as Joseph. Joseph's occupation is listed as a Tanner. Are there any references to these names in the books? Is it possible to find out if there was a tannery in the area and it's name or location? Many thanks. Teresa

While in the local library today I came across a selection of several Volumes of books on old Gloucestershire. I didn't have too much time but noted that they went right back to 17th century, maybe 16th and up to early 19th century. There were loads of names in there and lots of information on industry in the area, coal mining etc. There were lists of Aldermen, and I think there were lists of names on a war memorial in the area. As I say there were about five large books. I would be happy to look at them for names for anyone, or any other information at some time. Please e mail me that you have put a request on and then I will know to check the board as I don't come on every day. Ann Glos
