Sue, I knew my father was placed in a Waifs and Strays home in 1907 and thought I would find nothing else. With help from GC members, I found the homes were absorbed by the Childrens' Society. When I contacted them they found my father's file in their archives, closed in 1913, and sent me details from it. It is wonderful to have so much detail of a time never spoken of by my father. Hi, Concerning replies from Bardardo`s, unfortunately there is a long waiting list, but they DO supply good information. I have recently received through them (after a wait of more than one year) photos, of my grandmother, and reports concerning her progress in a childrens home in Canada from 1889, from the information received I also discovered a sister of hers and another brother I had not had any knowledge of. So if you can supply Bardardos with as much information as you know, and be patient, you will receive an answer Maud Jarvis

Greeting's Sue.... Yes I've had successful results from Banardo's But the information ( records & photo's ) is only given to the next of kin..... And there is a fee involved But well worth it. It's filled in a lot of the gap's in my Tree. MIKE.

Sue No, I haven't tried yet, but in case you didn't know I thought I'd mention that National Childrens Home records are held at the Sydney Jones Library at Liverpool University. There may be conditions upon access. If you put Sydney Jones into google, it'll take you to their website and you can see what they hold. Regs Jane
