The Administrator account is the one you use when you first set up a workstation or member server. You use this account before you create an account for yourself. The Administrator account is a member of the Administrators group on the workstation or member server. In laymans terms, after the initial installation of XP, you are the administrator. XP allows you to also set up different "accounts" on your computer for different individuals in your household. On these individual accounts each person has their own desktop and you can set preferances for each individual as to where there allowed in your computer, what files they have access to, etc....The administrator account controls all. If you have no other accounts set up on your computer just go ahead and install your software The Administrator account can never be deleted, disabled, or removed from the Administrators local group, ensuring that you never lock yourself out of the computer by deleting or disabling all the administrative accounts. This feature sets the Administrator account apart from other members of the Administrators local group.

This years Christmas pressie to myself is Family Historian. It came this morning - great! On the installation page, it strongly advises that I use an administrator account on my XP. What is this, why should I use it and how? Thanks a lot!
