Visited Southwell Workhouse when it was first opened by the National Trust approx 2 years ago. It was bought by NT to save it from being developed into designer flats. If you have an ancestor who was in a workhouse or are interested in the past it is a fantastic place to visit. There are no guides and don't expect fancy furniture, most rooms are bare (exactly how it would have been) just stand in the rooms and get a sense of history. Check out the National Trust site. Well worth a visit. regards Jayne |

Hi there Claire, it's near Nottingham and you really should visit. Check it out at the National Trust site. When we went it had only just opened and you had to book. Real atmosphere, amazing building but very sad. regards Jayne |
