Elton: yes, and his whole family was transcribed terribly! the surname was Eudbery, Etephzk not Hephzibah, Euanna instead of Emma, Downhen not Downahm! Bob: I don't have any 1861 discs, and asked for a look up, but not had any success, Thanks for your replies, Nicola

You could try the local registration office for that area. They hold the originals and all are not on the GRO/1837. have you got him on the 1861 census? He would only be six/seven. Bob

I still cannot find Charles Enderby on 1837 online, i looked through all the quarters for 1854, plus the last for 1853 and first for 1855. I don't know how else to find him!

You probably won't find a birth for 1854 on free bmd, nor will anyone else. That year is only 10% transcribed. Bob

I've also found people on 1837 online that I couldn't find on Free BMD so it is definitely worth trying especially if you know the year you are looking for. It gets a bit expensive if you have to search several years. Good luck. Mel

I found my Great Grandmothers birth on there when I couldn't find her listed anywhere else, and a couple of marriages as well.
