Hi David, When I suggested the Good Websites thread on this board, I had no idea it would take off the way it did! But I for one am very pleased that so may people have added their favourite sites to it. I have spent many wasted hours wondering how it would be possible to order it differently, but unless GC create a dedicated space for it I can see no way of changing it to make it more user friendly short of me printing it all off and re-entering it all back on again in a more easily navigable format! ( I would do it if I had the time and if my printer hadn't given up the ghost!!!) In the meantime, I am happy enough to plod through it when I need a site. I appreciate that it may be daunting to a newbie (like yourself!) but those of us who have been here a while just check it when it suddenly appears back at the top of the list as we know someone else must have entered yet another little gem! If we like the new entry we can add it to our favourites or jot it down for later use. Now I'm off to check out your random acts site (hope you've added that to the Good Websites list!) Good to have you on board! Bye for now lol Eleanor xx :0)

As you might have guessed, I am a newbee to this site, and I wasn't aware of the 'favorite links' thread until it was mentioned here. However, I find it very difficult to search thru the many suggested sites as there is no organization to them. On the RAOGK site you can select a specific country, county, and/or town and see a list of contacts with specifics as to what type of service they are willing to provide. This type of search would be most helpful on this site.

Ann, Thats great, I didn't know about that, I'll go and check it out. I'd just rushed back to my computer to PS my previous message that I know loads of RAOGK goes on on this site I was just thinking about a specific thread like the favourite websites one, to make offers easier to find. I should have known there would be a place already. Note to self - New Years Resolution - get facts right before opening mouth cheers Teresa

I made that suggestion to the admin of this site today... maybe if more people make the same suggestion something might happen.... it really needs a Board of it's own or some type of heading that will make it easy to find and SEARCH... searching anything other than surnames is a bit difficult in the current configuration of the site.

Theresa There is a thread on the Records board called something like Do you want a photo? It does just what you suggest, allows people to put places that they are willing to take photos of. (sorry bad grammar) Ann Glos

What a great site. I really like the idea. I wonder if there is a way of offering something similar through this site, though perhaps on a more casual basis. I would think offering photos of buildings (houses, factories, hospitals etc) or churches or gravestones, wouldn't be too much of a burden, (though perhaps I'm being naive) I have no experience of setting up threads and would be a bit daunted, but if anyone thinks they might see how it could work, or any major pitfalls ahead I would be happy to put my name down for the Keynsham and outlying villages area. Sometimes being able to do something to help other peoples research when yours isn't going so well can keep you motivated/interested. What does anyone else think? Teresa
