Zoe, I was the same kept putting it off, I ordered the cert just before xmas and now am kicking myself that i didnt do it sooner. Am wait1ng with baited breath for it to come to see if its the right one, there has been a bit of mystery on dads side so it could all fall into place with this or open a can off worms!Good luck with yours. I also bore people with my tree , in work. Hubby shouts upstairs to me( when i am on p.c) 'have you found any more dead people yet?' I am sure the neighbours think i'm a medium!

Zoe I must know the same people as you, eyes glazed, fixed smile. But just wait until something you say hits the right spot and they ask you find something for them, then you do, and suddenly they can't stop asking you how to back a bit further. Then it's your turn, but your smile will be real, because you are pleased for them. Hope you've ordered the certificate and it turns out to be the right one. Good Luck Lynda

Lynda You're right - I know, you're right. I just needed someone to tell me that. People at work tend to glaze over when I start on about "The Tree". And it will stop me feeling guilty that I've concentrated a lot on one branch and neglected the others and they might know. I'm going off to do it now - help me smile my way through the last 5 hours of my 16 hour shift (Grrrrrrrrrr) zoe

Zoe If you order it and it's wrong you will be disappointed, however if you order it and it's the right one you will be over the moon. If you don't order it you will keep wondering, is it him? If you specify the father and they don't match, you will get half (I think thats right) your fee back. I have just ordered a certificate and the father was a diffeerent name than what I said and I had money returned. So I would say order it and keep your fingers crossed that it's right, and imagine how you will feel if it is the right one. £7.50 well spent! Lynda

According to the 1901 census my g Grandfather was 26 and born in Shoreditch. FreeBMD only has one Richard Webb born in 1874 or 1875 in the district - and both years are nearly complete. I've put off ordering for the last month because of christmas but I'm desperate to get the ball rolling again. I need to order from the GRO as Hackney won't do requests (so I won't get my money back if I specify the father and it's wrong). Shall I just go for it?
