Jenny, To make your file into GEDCOM, go to "save as" give it a name and at the end of that name put .ged, that will save it as a gedcom file. Kim

Have a look in all the titles at the top of the page, but start with 'file' if your programme has it. If you are lucky you will find a choice to 'export as GEDCOM' or sometimes just 'export'. Click that and it will probably ask you for a name for your file, and where it should place it. Best place is My Documents as its easy to refind later. Once you have saved your file you can then open another programme andload the gedcom file that you will find in your my documents file where you saved it. Good luck B

I am confused about GEDCOM files. I originally developed my family tree via Genes Connected but now I am setting up my own website and need it a format I can publish on the web. I knew it should really be in GEDCOM format so bought a package (very cheap) called Family Tree Designer which said it was GEDCOM compatible. I have entered all my data but am now stuck as to how this will convert to GEDCOM files. I saw an article in Your Family Tree which says you can use something at www.gedhtreee.com to convert your GEDCOM to family trees suitable for publishing on a website. My problem is I am stuck at how to make my data into GEDCOMS. Any help gratefully accepted - but make it simple as I am not the world's best at this kind of thing.
