The one-name parish lists sound wonderful. Does anyone know if there's one for Warwickshire, particularly Coventry fingers crossedXX Sylvia

Barbara What a wonderful site. Unfortunately I didn't find anything immediately, but I will keep checking back there as I'm sure the records I'm after will appear some time. Thanks very much for that info - will definately be added to my 'favourites'!

http://freepages.genealogy(.)rootsweb(.)com/~monfamilies/myfamily-history.htm Lesley try the above site for Monmouthshire, its fantastic! I was able to confirm a lot of theories and as I had fiche of MI's I could venture back into the 1700s thatnks to the birth registers Barbara

Debbie Thanks for that - will take a look at both of those. Robert I must have caught someone on an "off" day then! I'm within reach of a couple, so perhaps I'll try a different one and see if they're any more helpful. I Appreciate the advice, thanks.

I have always found that the our local LDS family history centre (Swansea) will order any parish record that they have on film or fiche! In fact the filing cabinet is always full of films that they have order both for church members and for non church members. Even better folks there will identify the correct film that you need if you are not too confident about using their library wesite. It costs a couple of pounds to order a selection of films. Try them again...!

Hi Lesley, Speaking from experience the Devon FHS are really good. You can order one name lists of baptisms, marriages or burials, or whole parishes (all names), and they are very cheap! All can be ordered and paid for on-line. Some Norfolk parishes are online at www.genealogy.doun.org/transcriptions Debbie

Diane Thanks for those two suggestions. I have tried some of the FHS in the past with no luck, but will keep going back to them. Genevieve The main ones I'm looking for are Devon, Dorset, Warwickshire, Norfolk, Huntingdon and Monmouthshire. I did actually find one of my Devon locations on GENUKI where someone has transcribed the Births, Marriages, Deaths and all the censuses! Shame I can't find that for all of them. Will keep checking though. Thanks for the tip.

Lesley, What counties are you looking for? There are quite a few parish transcriptions to be found online, Genuki is always worth a look, type in Genuki search page plus and click on the website, then you can search. Gen

The only other way I can think of is buying copies from the various family history societies. I have done that in the past. Other than that subscribe to the Rootsweb county lists (It's free) and ask for a look up. You are generally lucky, as on here people are very generous.

I'm now at that pre-civil registration stage where I need to trawl through the parish registers looking for records. Can anyone tell me whether there is anywhere else, apart from the country record offices where I can look at parish registers. I seem to have ancestors in virtually every county in England and don't particularly want to have to visit every one of them. I tried my local LDS centre, but they only had local records and were reluctant to order in films from outside their area. Does anyone have any suggestions. Are copies available anywhere else?
