Grace Lydia Hammett was born 1853 Greenwich (I know that’s right as I have her birth cert) her father being James John Hammett, occupation Painter. I have a marriage cert for her dated 1885 aged 33, at Medway so that seems about right, but then it gets confusing. Her fathers name on Marr cert is Henry James Hammett, occupation Petty Officer RN, which just happens to be her brother’s name. Henry James (brother) had been a grocer’s porter 1881/cement labourer 1891/ labourer at docks 1901. I cannot find Grace on any of the census available on line, either with the name Hammett or Inkpin. Edward Inkpin is her husbands name on marr cert. If anyone can shed any light on whether I have the right marriage cert or not I would be grateful. What do you think? Sandra |
