Hi. Strange thing is that on 1851 census his place of birth is back as Froncysyllte, but he wasn't born there according to 1841 census. The Lady in my local resource centre says that that is quite common in those days as the census collectors just filled them in as they went along as most people were illiterate. Help!!! I've been stuck for months ;-( Tracy

tracy, Was he still alive in 1851? This will give you a year and place of birth. you will then have to look in the relevent church records for a baptism. if you are lucky you may also get a date of birth. it will give you his farther's name and his mother's first name. bob

Hi. Have traced back to an ancestor who was married in 1841. In 1841 census William Jespard is down aged 20 born out of area. How can I find out where he was born? I know his fathers name was Robert. I also have variations of his surname through various censuses etc as being Jesphard, Jesper, Jespert, Jasper and Jaspart. The final variation that is in use today is Jasper. Any ideas anyone?
