Thanks everyone. Philip, I'm relatively new to all this. Does this mean that although the marriage may not be reg in 1884, the couple can still be married. Also is there anyway of searching Church records on line or is it leg work for me. Jan

Thanks Philip, I don't know the exact year, got one side of the family muddled with another hence 1884. The ones I'm looking for appear on the 1891 census with two young children, so have to approximate, year of possible marriage. They lived in Southwark London, and are already on the site. One partners name is Yelloly, and there is only one other person who appears to be searching that name. Jan

Janet, it's possible they married much later than you think. My G Grandparents were living together for 25 years before they married, and during that time my g gran used his surname.

Yes I have checked them out, no luck though. I thought about them being married later worth a try. What I,m attempting to prove is that I married my 3rd cousin. Both our G Grandmothers had maiden name Grist. My husbands I,ve found and proved she had a sister Louisa, but my own Louisa I cannot find a birth or marriage cert for. I need her fathers name to prove they were sisters. I'm going crazy trying to get the last piece of the jigsaw. Jan

Hi Janet, its taken me 3 years to find my grandmothers certificate even though I knew her date of birth! She was registered under her maidens maiden name which I didn't know. If you know the mothers name try that good luck Sue

Janet, that should have read: registered under her mothers maiden name! Sue
