Jacqui, I would say that 8.12 or 8/12 means 8 months. And yes, I have seen it used quite a lot by people on application forms for jobs etc. (i.e. they worked somewhere for 8/12 meaning 8 months). Ann Glos

9 months would actully equate to 9.12, rather than 8. But I have seen various forms of infant ages being recorded in different ways. Just wish I had copied/kept the pages to prove it now!!!! Paul

A friend recently sent me a print out of a page of the Ancestry Transcription of the 1891 Welsh Census on which my grandmother's sister's age is shown as 8.12 - On a photocopy of the actual census page, her age is shown as 9 months (at least is looks like months, it's been over-written and then crossed-through by checking, so difficult to see) Interestingly enough both this child, and my grandmother (aged 3 years) are both recorded as speaking English and Welsh - brains in my family must have stopped with them!!! My question is, has anyone else seen age written down in this way (i.e. 8.12 meaning 9 months)??? Jacqui
