Hi Robert, I'm assuming the VRI is Vital Records Index. What exactly is this and is there a reason why they might not be on there? BTW - I contacted the County Record Office for Faceby (North Yorks) yesterday and they are doing a search for me. Naomi

They don't seem to be on VRI.

Hello, Another way of finding siblings is to find the person you know of then click on the batch no. That takes you back to the search page and the batch no. will be entered in the appropriate square. Put in the surname, click search and it will bring up everyone connected to that family. It sis then a matter of looking at each person to see who their parents were. You don't have to go to the parish that you are searching if you have a LDS centre near you. Best to find a no. for them and find out where their nearest record centre is to you. You can order the parish records, census and BMD's through them. It costs about 2.70, takes about a week to come through and you can have access to it for about a month depending how popular it is. Good luck

Select the IGI bit on the left hand side and then leave the first name and surname blank and enter the father's name and mother's name - as you don't know the mother's name enter *. I then selected British Isles, England and Yorkshire. Sometimes you get an lot of names and then you could search for 10 years around the date you are looking for. In this case just three names appear - they may not be correct, there could be another Edward Peacock but it gives a point to check from. Hope this makes sense. Sue

Hi Sue, I found Margaret Peacock and her father on Family Search. How did you find the siblings? Thanks Naomi

Hi Sue, I'd appreciate that. Unfortunately I'm in London and a trip to Yorkshire isn't on the cards for quite a while! Maybe if I gather some more info on the Peacock family I'll take a long weekend up there. Thanks Naomi

Hi Naomi You would have to check parish records for Faceby to confirm the details. Some are online at www(.)ancestry(.)uk but you will probably have to visit the area and check at the local libraries etc. When searching on familysearch you can find siblings on the IGI and it looks like Margaret had 2 brothers - John & Edward. You can then look for marriages of her father - there look to be 2 possibles about the right time - Mary Metcalf at Whitby in 1797 or Nanny Metcalf at Muker in 1799. I have the VRI and can check on that for you, but that will be tonight. Sue

Hi Sue, I found them on the LDS site too. I was wondering if there was anyway I could get paper proof or do I just take it as read that the LDS site is correct? Also how do I get any further information and get any further back? Naomi

On www(.)familysearch(.)org you can search for ancestors. I found Margaret Peacock, christened 24/08/1808 at Faceby - father Edward Peacock. Sue Weighell

Hi All, My GGG Grandmother Margaret Peacock was born c1808 in Faceby, Yorkshire and her father was Edward Peacock. Can someone tell me how I might find her baptism details? I've looked on Genuki and record offices for the first time today but not sure how to work out what one I need. Thanks Naomi
