in 1901 there seems to be a fancy goods seller at 188, a reed basket maker at 190 and an ironmonger over the road at 189. This probably means the road had been renumbered by then, as they often used to do -- doesn't help, sorry William Wright, photographer, born in Bethnal Green, was living in Hackney by 1901, but he was still only 24 places to look could be trade directories and adverts in local papers

Put *"william wright" photographer* (without the stars) into Google and on the first page you will see a page called "The 1880s". Have a look at it. You will see that WW was in business in 1882 from 189/190 Bethnal Green Road.

As Robin said, possibly renumbered by then - odd numbers on one side, evens on the other.
