May be Margaret I haven't got the vital records either and that's why I can't do anything with it! LOL

Margaret

Margaret Report 4 Feb 2004 18:12

Jo I don't have the Vital Records Index, that same viewer 4 is used for that too, so can't help you. Nina There are 6882 hits when an address search is done for just Ealing Margaret

Can someone find a similar starting point for me on the CD please. Here is the person I am looking - as shown on 1871 Mary Ann ISTED Serv Unm 19 Housemaid, bn Twickenham Address 9 Caxtonbury House, St Marys Rd, Ealing She is still in Ealing in 1891 but I can't find her in 1881 so if someone could give me a starting point in Ealing then I can check all the streets via neighbour option and see if she has been mistranscribed. Thanks Nina

I have the viewer 4.0 with my LDS 1881 Census disks. When I click on tools it has options and on that preferences, at the bottom it says vital records indexes parent search? Don't know what it is or how to do it. Thanks for any info. Jo

Margaret

Margaret Report 4 Feb 2004 17:05

Jo You can only do an address search if you have viewer 4, but that is only £5.95 from the LDS in Birmingham. Don't know what you mean about a parent link. Do you mean a parent search on the IGI? or are we still talking about the 1881 CD's Margaret

Thanks for the tip Margaret, I didn't know it done that! My Aunt bought me the cds a little while ago and am only getting the hang of things now. By the way do you know what and how to do a parent link. Seen it on the help files but didn't understand it.

I'm missing from this exchange aren't I?. Moseley Hole was what was given on the birth certificate (1865). So, presumably it was the hamlet. (Willenhall) I also found a Moseley Hole Farm on www old-maps co uk dated late 1800's. Couldn't see any Moseley Hole Lane on that bit of the map tho'. Pauline

Margaret Report 4 Feb 2004 14:31

Geoff Probably right, but that what came up on an address search on 1881. Just the 2 Moseley Hole lanes. No Moseley Hole on its own Margaret

Geoff

Geoff Report 4 Feb 2004 14:22

I would have thought that Moseley Hole was the name of a hamlet and that the lanes led to it from Willenhall and Bilston which are just a mile or two away.

Margaret

Margaret Report 4 Feb 2004 13:53

Pauline in Sowerby bridge Is it Moseley Hole Lane in Willenhall, Staffs or Moseley Hole lane, Bilston, Staffs Margaret

Margaret

Margaret Report 4 Feb 2004 13:47

Pauline in Sowerby Bridge Do you have the CD's? If you have viewer 4, then cancel the search box that comes on at the start and click on the word 'search' at the top. Not the binoculars. Click on 'neighbours advanced query'. Put in the address you need. Obviously you have to have the right disc in and sometimes it's a bit hit and miss cause if the name of the street could also be someone's name or the place where they were born, then it gives you them too. Bit like searching through neighbours, but if you don't know where to start its easier. Margaret

Margaret, Are you then able to get me the names of anyone living in Moseley Hole (Wednesfield, Wolverhampton) in 1881?. I'm missing a great-grandad and his mum, and I think they may still be around under a different surname. I can easily search the neighbours if I start in the right place. Thanks Pauline
