My name has an i instead of a y because... Barnett & Yetta orphaned their children Joseph (my dad) and his brother Jack, leaving a note with their names spelling Kosky with an i. That is the way I was bought up with it, so it is strange for me to learn it was really spelt with a y!!

My bet is that they have been mistranscribed. I see you have i on the end of your name, instead of y. Have you tried Kos* and Cos? Alternatively, I would do a first name only search with Yetta, there won't (hopefully) be too many of those. LN

Another mystery up for grabs if anyone can solve it... Have been looking for my Grand Parents, Barnet (or Barnett) Kosky and Yetta Kosky, formerly Kliman on the 1901 census, but no luck. Found a Barnett Kosky (a Russian Subject), but not the right one. My Grand Parents were living in the East End of London, possibly Spitalfields, Whitechapel, Mile End area at the time of the census. They had a son, my dad, Joseph Kosky, who would have been 3/4 years old. Can someone simply disappear? Anyone any ideas? Many thanks
