My husbands family Western Edwards Alice born 1875 I thought as I am a Bristolian we could use this thread to provide tips for outsiders. Avon and Bristol family history society have an on-line index for South Gloucestershire burials. Also a list of names from War memorials in Bristol.

I just found out my great great great great grandfather Thomas Waters' wife's name was Hester from 1851 census. She was born in St Mary, Redcliffe, Bristol around 1795. I am unable to find out her parents. She was married to Thomas Waters around 1825s but it is unknown place. Regards, Steven.

Hi all I have two very vague connections to Bristol. 1. MATILDA MITCHELL born c1811 - turned up in London by 1830 to marry Frederick Wood. Says she was born London except for in 1871 when she says Bristol 2. MATTHEW PULLEN born c1774 - married first to Ann Padgett in London in 1797. Says he was born Bristol, Somerset (?) in 1851 Lyla

Great thread!! BARBER in Bedminster! Samuel 1828 m Caroline 1832 had Thomas 1851,Walter1860,Samuel1862.All were masons. Can't go further back or find census 1871 or 1881 or marriage!!! (As usual!) Sineadxxx

My Gt Grandma Sarah Jane Davis had the following siblings. Who did they marry and where are their decendants now? I'm on the hunt for anyone by the name of HEYMAN or HAYMAN, in particular a Charles HEYMAN who probably 'founded' this Bristol family in the late 18th century. His descendant were in the oil and colour (paint), carriage-building trade, plus a crop of dentists. Some of the clan moved from Bristol to London and Kent in the early 19th century, others remained in the city. Thanks for any clues, Darryl
