the father was a tailor & they had 8 children.......not all by 1901 though only 7 by 1901. George was the 3rd child, 2nd boy. If he was in a hospital or special type of school, wouldn't he still be on the census ????? aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

how well off were your ancestors could they have sent him to a bording school if not could he of been in one off the servives as a cadet or cabin boy ( I think they still had them then.) If not try a hospital or reform School.

I lost one boy who was 3 in 1871, but he had disappeared from the household by 1881. I did find him in an 'Industrial School', think it may have been some sort of reformation place for young offenders.

They seem to do that a lot with street names. There's often every conceivable variation after a first name. Eg Greenwood Street, Greenwood Terrace, Mount, Crescent, Road, Close, Lane, Gardens etc. ad nauseum. Or else they go for a theme, eg towns from a county miles away. So in Manchester there’s Dawlish Road, Dartmouth Road, Torbay etc. It must be really boring work being a town planner!

I found an 11 year old George McMillan from Leeds. I would hope he knows his name by age 11 though.

hey cool ! They weren't very original with street names.....Bayswater is every street to the north with a different ending.....terrace, avenue, place mount etc !!! What's the story there I wonder?? How confusing for the postie !! LOL

On the BMD it says he was born in Bradford. hi brothers & sisters on 1901 are down as Yorkshire Bradford

it is possible he might of be a worker in another household also his name might have been mistranscribed (my Tyrer's were down as Tuprer's) i'll have a quick look now - do you know where he was born?

oh this family is driving me to the bottle !!!! They were on a spaceship until 1886 when they had their first child. Maybe that's where George went......to the mother ship !!!

karen I've had a look using the decoder for 1901 but can't seem to find him - sorry Esta I had a G Aunt who married a McKinley in 1900 and it took me a while to find them !!!

It is in Leeds, not Bradford. Hope that helps a little.

it is possible, but his grandparents were from Ireland. Would they send him OS ? I really don't know if they had relatives in England......so if I can find George......I might find a family as well !!!
