There's also a Frank TINKLER born 1860, married to Ann WHITEHILL in 1881 and died in 1891 - all in Nottinghamshire. The NIGHTINGALE name could equally belong to his mother? All these on FreeBMD. Regards Mary

Have you tried for any likely mis-spellings in the other records? "Tinker" leaps to mind as a likely one. Christine

Can't find a Nightingale birth that fits, and no Annie Nightingale on 1881. I wouldn't get too excited about the name - I think about 90% of my male relatives were called William - and I've given it to my eldest son too. nell

Tara

Tara Report 21 Dec 2004 22:08

It could be William cause they seem to like reusing name and they have 2 sons - Frank & William.

The information I've given is from Ancestry civil registration, which I believe is from FreeBMD and is therefore NOT COMPLETE. If she is down as a widow, his death should be in the GRO indexes which are complete. I also did a search for Annie Nightingale marriages, but found nothing. I will now see if I can find an Annie Nightingale birth for someone who'd be 39 in 1901. nell

Guess I'm abit slow here so bear with me :O) Annie is listed as a widow in 1901 census but has a 1 yr kid but no deaths listed so he died earlier and she had 2 kids by someone else but name them as Tinklers?
