Tracy Can you give me the details of the John Burkes Marrying a Mary , does is say the surname for the mary's? As for harriets father i have no idea how to go about that on, but that depends on whether the certificate i have for her is correct, as there is no father on there. Can't you just tell it's a Irish family LOL. Deb X

Another question you may or may not want to answer - who is Harriet's father? It ca't be James and Catherine's dad cause he's dead by 1871 lol I found 3 John Burke's marrying Mary, but no James'.

Brenda I have tried searching for the marraige too but with no luck. The 2 birth certificates i ordered had the same mothers name which is a coincidense i think but only one had a fathers name on , which was a John Burke but on James's marraige certificate his father was called James Burke. Do you think John and James could have been the same father? Deb X

Birth certificates should show mother's maiden name. Try looking for a Mary X marrying a Burke. The father may have had two christian names that he used interchangeably.

Tracy Yes on the certificate she was born in Bradley and her mother was living in union House Sedgley Dont worry i have been tempted to leave it at that believe me. But i need to find out the mothers maiden name and were abouts the father came from so i can get back further. Thanks for your help Deb X

I meant on the cert you have for her.... is it from Staffs?

I think I'd probably not bother ordering certs. You have all their names from the censuses etc. I'd leave it at that - I'm lazy lol

Yes Tracy she was it says on the 1881 census she was born Ivesy Bank Stafford but cant find where it is. Deb X

Tracy I have a birth certificate for a Harriet Burke born 1873 but i can't as yet confirm if its the right one because there isnt a fathers name on it. But saying that ive noticed Harriets mother was widowed on the 1871 census and obviously harriet was born after this time but still took on the Burke name ;-0 so it could have been that she didnt put it on. I also got the birth certificate of her brother (James)my gr gr grandad (or at least i thought it was his). But his fathers name didnt match up with the one on James's Marraige certificate, BUT the mothers name was the same as the one i got for HARRIET. Are you still with me on this one LOL . Deb X
