Bon soir! Never assume anything! The age on death cert may be wrong as it is just a guess quite often, by whoever informed his death. The less close the informant, the less likely the info is to be accurate - though 7 years is a bit of a difference. If it had been one or two I would have been more convinced. His parish marriage entry will not tell you where he was born :-(. Do you have any idea where he was in 1841 - if you could find his census entry that would give his date and place of birth. parish register won't tell you where he was born and as for that big a gap in years - i wouldn't think so |

Hello, I'll try and make this as clear as possible. Yesterday I got the death certificate of my 3xgt-grandfather Robinson Ayton. He died in 1864 and his age on the certificate is 85, which would mean that he was born in 1779. He was in the army in the 34th Foot, which was also known as the Cumberland Regiment. On the IGI I've found a xtening for a Robinson Hayton in 1786 in Whitehaven Cumberland - despite the different birth years and the H in front of Ayton - can I assume that they are the same person? I know he got married in 1820 in Littlehampton, Sussex - would the parish register tell me where he was born? Thank you, Helen :-) |
