Curious fox! Excellent.! Join as a full member for best results. I had a couple of real breakthroughs on it when some kind soul replied to my message and so gave me links going back to the 1600's. Marie

Just made my first contact with the Bateman family from Deptford & Orpington. They live in Canada but are coming to London in March. They were able to give me a grave plot number of our shared gt gt grandfather - only 20 minutes away. Absolutely thrilled.

In a word Excellent. The best £5 Ive spent so many positive contacts from thissite. Including one from someone not connected with the family. This son had persons son had just bought a shop that had been jointly owned by my husbands Grandfather and Great Uncle back in the 1960s. No one had used the shop in the meantime and several pieces of info relating to the family, relating to when the partnership was dissolved etc etc. Things we didnt know and wouldnt have found out otherwise. Considering Id had a letter printed in the local paper a month previously that this person hadnt seen. Id advise you to join. Sue

It's an OK site...I've left quite a few messages there in the 2 or 3 years I've been a member but no replies as yet. I didn't renew my paid sub this year though.

Penny, yes you do get a notification if someone replies, just like on this site.

After reading this thread about a week ago, I had a look and found a relative. They left the message in March of this year. I decided to join as I found some information for my husband as well. I sent the new found relative a message and they haven't replied. Of course I want instant gratification (lol). When you leave a message for someone, is that person notified through a message system like this board? Or do you just hope they will check back at some point and see the message left for them? I like getting the messages from this board, so I can get in touch with the person right away. Even if there isn't a connection, I can at least let them know that so they aren't waiting around. Thanks for your help and for the original post. Penny

I paid the £5 and left several messages- I have had quite a few replies, some from people not-related but able to provide extra info, but also someone whose MIL was descended from the same family as me. So worth the money from my point of view- which reminds me they sent me a renewal notice recently, I think I will continue to suscribe!!!

I left a message on Curious Fox about 8 mth ago and had totally forgotten about it! I was looking for any info on my dad's side of the family! In the past month I have had contact with my dads cousin who has filled me in on family stuff going back to 1826! Also managed to contact my dad's only living sister and have chatted to her on the phone a few times! Brilliant...Bev x

I have been a member of it for quite some time. I had a few contacts with people at first, but not much for quite a long time now. It is only a sort of message board, so it doesn't have any data that you can search. The only thing that you can do is to search the messages that other people have put on. I have had far more success and far more fun from GR.
