Selena in South East London Report 19 Aug 2005 22:05

I don't like the sound of John Potts! Bit quick to get married to someone else.

An Olde Crone Report 19 Aug 2005 21:52

Trawling through the PR today, looking for the Greens of Gawsworth. Suddenly realised that I was actually looking at the Banns book, rather than the marriages, if you see what I mean.My attention was caught by Banns read for Jane GREEN and John Potts on three succesive Sundays in June, 1771. But nothing else - I assume no marriage took place (all other Banns were followed by details of the solemnization of the marriage) I trawled on and in September that same year I found Burials: Stillborn bastard infant of Jane Green. Jane Green, singlewoman of Gawsworth (unshriven). Found dead in a field, of childbed. John Potts married in November that year. BOO HOOO. This is so sad... Olde Crone
