Margaret I'm sorry I misunderstood. Can you clarify that you are looking for two David Scrimgeours and John Robertson - I presume Pullar is a place and not a name as for the look up for Methen? If so - I'll have another look. Karen

Karen, How strange - have just checked both addresses and it's not there - and it's not in spam either. Can you send me your email addy in a pm and I can mail you - then you could reply and see if it gets through that way? Appreciate that you kept trying!! Thanks, Maggie

Maggie I did send the info to both email addresses you gave me. I have just sent it again to both. If you don't have it, let me know and I'll try pasting it on to a PM here. Karen PS: just got the one sent to the not cold mail bounced back?!

Karen, Just wondering if you've had time to mail the text you spoke of? If you haven't that's fine - but if you've sent it, I've not received it - would hate you to think I hadn't thanked you when I should. AOL sometimes bounces messages at will - but (the not cold mail that genes won't let me say) addy should work. Thanks, Maggie

Sharon Report 3 Oct 2005 00:35

Hi Karen maybe you can help me as I seem to have hit a brick wall. My relatives: Helen Sutherland (nee Ross, father John Ross) married Alexander Sutherland in 1802 in Edinburgh. They had 1 son that I know of Alexander jnr in 1818 (it seems a long time after the marriage), he migrated to OZ in 1848. Any information would be a godsend. Thankyou in advance Sharon in Australia

Cazzie There are obviously several entries in both the 1842 directory and the Newington Cemetary for McIntosh but none that fit with your names. Sorry not to be more helpful. Karen

KarenInScotland Report 3 Oct 2005 00:20

Dorothy In the 1842 directory there was a Mrs John Brash of 21 Gilmore Place. No Johns. 3 x Miss Wrights (unfortunately women don't seem to be given a first name!) - 2 were straw hat makers/manufacturers - if you want the addresses let me know. Dryden, John, Jun (D Mclaren & Co) Catherine Bank Dryden, J and Co, Ship and insur brokers & commis merhnts, 9 Constitution Street. No entries in the Newington Cemetary matched with your names although there were 2 x Brash, one a Rev and one married to a woman buried in the Hebrew section. Also several Drydens which I can type up and let you have if you think they may help. If so email me to save taking up space here with the info. Karen

Marion Sorry but no reference to any Clow at all in either the PO directory or the Newington Cemetary. Couldn't find Alexander Fleming in either, also searched for Agnes Brown but no luck. Karen

Margaret Sorry no luck finding your Pullar's or David Methven. There was only one Methven in the 1842 directory - Wm, 11 Roxburgh Street. Could he be related? There was a John Y Pullar but that's the closest I could get. Nothing in the Newington Cemetary either. Karen
