hi an update on the info. I managed to get my grandad into a conversation (without him realising i was actually quizing him!) Don was in Egypt during the war, but went back to his mothers and fathers in horsham when he was injured (grandad remembers this as he was still at home) he met beryl in liverpool when she was working on lathes. they had been down 2 weekends in a row before they dissapeared as he was doing some work (unsure what type) in London. they were due to go back to horsham the following weekend as well. but never did. before they had their daughter they lived near the aquaduct in brighton (havent a clue where this is in brighton) where there are several roads all going off. grandad remembers going down to collect them for christmas dinner in market square horsham. apparently although beryl was only of slight build, she was a tough cookie with brown hair. couldnt continue quizing him as i could see he was getting rather emotional. does anyone know the brighton area and the aquaduct? all i know is the pier. all the best Corrina

How bizarre is this?????????????? Trade directories in Carlisle library have 1963,1964,1965 missing. Electoral registers looked up after an address was found in 1962 trade directory. This confirms that they were ata certain address in Carlisle in 1961,1962,but they do not appear in the role at that address in 1963,1964,1965. Ive found the names of the present occupiers of the property and they have been there at least since 1983,probably before, but no telephone number available.

I find it hard to believe that someone would just disappear off the face of the earth for no reason - why such a passage of time before anyone wondered WHY. Have you considered what you have been told may not be the truth? maybe he was imprisoned for some horrendous crime that is best forgotten. I wish you luck - i think you'll need it

Hi, as far as I can work out they only ever had the one child which was Janine. my grandads siblings and himself for that matter only seemed to have 1 or 2. im looking into mcalpines which is the last known place that don worked. not sure if they will be able to help (if they are still about) but worth a shot. I will be writing to Beryl A Danby this week. trying to piece together an informal letter. fingers crossed should be able to order the cert for their marriage later today or tomorrow. hopefully that should have some info on it. so grateful for all your help. Alter Ego you are brilliant, I would never have considered looking for changes of name, things that look a bit fishy etc. its silly things that you dont think of, family fueds for instance. they were apparently a happy bunch but you never know. i am going to try and contact a cousin of mine (dons sisters daughter) but as she relies on the library computers im not sure when i shall here from her. trying to think of any more avenues. such a shame i wasnt more interested as a child when my great aunt was alive. all the best. probably be back tomorrow, if i get the revision out of the way. one last question. i live in chichester and there is a records office here, will it only have chichester info there? corrina

I did 1837 5 years search for Janine Ryman marriage none found, bringing her age from 18-23,----------1968 to 1973, Janine was registered in the Boarder region,,,,,,,,,1b??? Penrith is 1a,,,they were living in Carsile at the last visit 1964, this is information from Corina herself So wonder if they moved to Scotland/emigrated if Scotland then we wont find any Deaths/Marriages on 1837, if emigrated then they could have gone to many countries.. But would be intresting to know if they had anymore children,???? kay.

Corrina Not sure whether you've checked this one out or not, but there is a death of a Beryl Eva Ryman in Australia, 27-May-1995, aged 72 (i.e. inferred year of birth 1922-23 which would be approx the right age for your Beryl, though I realise that the middle initial is different to that on the marriage record). I found it on the Ryerson Index, which is an on-line index to deaths/obits in NSW, Australia: (http://www.rootsweb*com/~nswsdps/dpsindex.htm) NAME DATE AGE TYPE PLACE PUBLISHED RYMAN,Beryl Eva 27MAY1995 72 Death late of Yagoona 30MAY1995 DT ''DT'' is Sydney Daily Telegraph, and Yagoona is a suburb of Sydney. If you think that it might be her, let me know as I'm going to the library on Tuesday so could check the original article for you. Richard

I have replied to messages in person. I wasnt back for a while as no internet. if the Beryl A danby is the same one (will be contacting her this week) is there a way of finding out about divorces etc? I havent had to look for one before. yes i did see the messages on the board and have replied as i am writing down alot of information and places to look. I appologies that i do not reply to threads as soon as everyone else, but i do have a family aswell. thank you for the information you have given me. it has been a great help. i shall try to come back on tomorrow, but revising at the moment. corrina

the Donald Ryman in Formby was born in 1930-Ive checked him out-its true-born in Birkenhead down the road-spoke to the one down south-not him. Ive sent Corrina the phone number for beryl-she is living alone which is what you would expect-danby is her maiden name-and we dont know what on earth has happened over the years. Theres also a janine Danby in bradford-but Im hanging fire on that one-could be that shes married into that name. Donalds birth 1920 Horsham janines birth 1950 Border(1a) donald and beryls marriage horsham 1942.

not sure if you two good people are wasting your time here - corina has not been back to this thread for some time. She has been on general and posted there though - someone has apparently sent a private message which has upset her - so she isn't going to bother anymore Jess x

ah,get you now-yes-a very critical period in this picture aswell-dontwant to go over oldterritory-but its the most critical period to search. conclusions so far....... (1)name changes involved (2)moved to oz,canada or such-nightmare in oz-deaths are only accesible up to about 1970 ish, theyre tight on regs there. there are 2 D RYmans in Oz(see past messages) but clutching at straws so far-establishing donalds exact birthdate is paramount>>>Cornna where are you lol.?? (3) possible remarriages. (4) possible death 1964-1983UPDATE =NOPE England /Wales.XXXXXXXXXXX
