Here is a message I have been copying any pasting to a few people who said they were stuck.......so am putting it here too!! (thanks mainly to Tracy from Teeside, who posted this first:). Up to now all those I have sent it too have found they can get in and use the site (or are they just being polite?? lol) 1) Go into Ancestry.co.uk and sign on as usual. Don't close the program, but shrink it down...... 2) Open the website: http://www.1851-census(.)co.uk/ (remove brackets) 3) Type a name into the two boxes along side the orange box that says, ''Search the 1851 census''. Click ''Search'' over on the right hand side....... 4) You should get a list of results which will be sorted on ''Ranked Search Results''. If you don't like the Ranked Results, scroll down to the bottom and click on the Exact Search tab on the top of the ''Refine your search of the 1851 England Census''. Then repeat your search..... I still cant get on. I have the reference number for someone on the 1851 census and still cant get to it. I have looked for Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire, maybe its only certain ares that are on at the moment. June xx

I could only do ranked yesterday but today am able to do exact searches. YIPPEE found my Meadows within 10 mins of going on. Germaine x

Abbess, I've been doing Exact searches since yesterday afternoon..... After you have got your first list of results, scroll down to ''Refine your search of the 1851 England Census'' and click on the ''Exaxt Search'' tab. You can then continue with exact matches until you exit the site. You have to do the same again next time you come back in.......... Merry

http://www.1851-census(.)co.uk/ Is the site, removing brackets. The index is free, but currently you can only do ranked, rather than exact searches. You have to pay to get the actual reference or to see the image.

Lou, 1861 - 189,000 people living in St Pancras..... 1851 - 169,000 people living in St Pancras..... I know the population was increasing in the 1850's at about that rate...... Guess it should read 169,002 for 1851?? Oh, plus son, John.....169,003!! Merry

On 1861 I have my 3xg grandmother shown as head, no mention of 3xg grandfather. On 1851 I have 3xg grandfather shown as head no mention of 3xg grandmother. As least I have found 3x g grandfathers name. Sue

Hi Merry No, sadly numbers went to, but this was one I wanted to get back and can't. Peter Bibb b.1817 Northleach Glos, wife is Maria. Living London (St Geo Han Sq, St Pancras, that kind of area) The image said Bibb clear as a bell so baffled as to why they didn't appear. Unless there's more been added since someone looked for me earlier! I have 3 more if you pass this challenge...........lol!
