I wondered about that bit about the licensing laws, too, Nell. I can only think it is something to do with the fact that people appearing and disappearing from the IGI, apparantly completely at random, sends us straight for the nearest bottle! Seriously though, I had assumed that the Mormon Church owned the rights to both the CDs they sell and to what is on their website. Maybe they sold off the rights to produce and sell the CDs and hence are limited in respect of making the same information available, for free, on their website all at the same time. Don't know - just a guess. Tina

I have been looking at IGI for a relative and I was sure I'd searched him before and then lo and behold he turned up the other night on IGI. giving christening, father and mother so I have now sent for his birth cert after checking on '1837' Perhaps if I recheck others every couple of weeks they may eventually turn up! Well I never! That explains a lot then - I am not going mad for a start. Have often hunted for something I had previously found, only to think I must have imagined it! And often found stuff that definitely wasnt there the last million times I looked.... Olde Crone

In preparation for my first visit to Shropshire Archives, I have been doing my homework and reading the useful information on their website. This is a quote from their on-line leaflet about the transcripts and indexes they have: “Part of the IGI also appears on the website at www.familysearch.org. Due to licensing laws the information on the website is only 1/3 of that available on CD Rom. This is rotated over a 2-6 week cycle.” Tina
