I've never come across anything like this so I would guess that it is Shropshire only. Why on earth, I can't imagine. Kate.

Hi Karen Well, I know that the Shropshire Archives has the IGI on CD Rom, which they say means they have the whole thing and not just that part which is currently available on the web-site. But how they buy it I do not know, as it does not appear to be listed on the Products for Sale part of the LDS site. I would imagine it is not cheap. The other point is that the IGI is, I believe, still being added to. So any CD Rom bought would only be up-to-date at the time it was bought. Any records added subsequently would not of course be on it. Tina

Since I know someone who is involved with the preparation of the IGI, I will contact them. I have been told by the Church that rotation is a myth so will post their reply when I receive it.

I have read on other forums that this is a myth. It comes from th fact that other bits of info (Scotland census) are missing. I would have thought something so basic would appear on the Familysearch site. Bob

There is a serious purpose behind the IGI, indeed behind all of the LDS genealogical activities, and I can't imagine that making the availability of certain information a lottery, based on when you look, sits comfortably with that purpose. With modern database technology and hardware, there is no practical limit to the amount of information that can be made available, and I can't believe that there can be any issues of rights in the data that would preclude them being available on the widest possible basis all the time.

Hi I recently found a birth and christening been hunting for on IGI. Having mastered copy and paste, thanks to the tips board, I'm now copying any IGI entries I find into a word document to keep. Liz
