I too find infant deaths really sad and have one set of 2xgt grandparents who lost three of their children before thay reached 3 years of age. Whilst trawling through the parish records there seemed to be so many infant burials - it seems harsh having to bury one baby but so much worse for tragedy to hit so many times. Incidentally I have only just found out that the parents were 1st cousins (their mothers were sisters.) This does make me wonder if this made these infants even more vunerable to all those wicked diseases? Sarah |

Through genes reunited I 'm in touch with a 2nd cousin I never knew about. His Grandfather was my Gt Uncle Pvt Thomas Ridge Name 21507 2nd Northamptonshire Regt DOW Barlin 1/6/16 Thomas had a son Harold Thomas he never met. I discovered last Harold Thomas died in WW2 Unit Text:Gunner 7/4 Maritime Regt. Date of Death: 11/07/1942 Service No: 1531205 Grave/Memorial Reference: Panel 77, Column 3. Cemetery: PLYMOUTH NAVAL MEMORIAL and his son ( my newly found 2nd cousin ) Thomas was never seen by his father either. I suppose it wasn't that unusual makes you think though Jane |
