Dea Report 4 Jul 2006 13:06

In case anyone else is haveing trouble getting into the site - I have found another link: http://www(.)geocities(.)com/fountalnpen/index.html (remove brackets) Once in, not too far down the right-hand side, click on Main 'History' Page - This will take you into the yellow page which you would have arrived at via the 1st address. Hi Chris, Don't know why it didn't work for you. I posted this quite a while ago so just in case address had changed I cut and pasted from the info I had put on here and it took me straight in !!!!!!!!! http://www(.)geocities(.)com/mar1elene/History.html I have put the address again above - remember to remove brackets. - It REALLY is worth another try it is an excellent site, in fact I had forgotten all about it so I will be back in there myself today to see what more I can find. Dea x Let me know if you still have problems x

You're right, Dea, it's a really good site. As a matter of interest, do you know anywhere that one can find out about medeavil/tudor Northwich and Witton? There are tantalising bits on the site, but nothing really early enough.

Dea

Sue, Hope you find them - had a quick look and there are some Gates in 1841 Barnton: Turnpike Road. Alfred GATES, 35, Flatman, Y. Mary GATES, 35, Y. Joseph GATES, 8, Y. Edward GATES, 7, Y. Ellen GATES, 3, Y. Hiram GATES, 3 months, Y. Pleasant GATES, 75, Y. (What a LOVELY name!!) ALSO - Alfred Gates - Boatman aged 75 in the Workhouse. I'm sure there are more on there - Good luck, Dea x
