Yeh, Frederick Jones - Journeyman baker 1901 (can't find him in Birm with two-year-old son, Georg* in 1891) Edwin Rodds - baker (never appears after 1881) never dies......when son Fred Rodds marrys he says his dad's name is Frederick. Both married to Lucy Hardman......... Bloodyhell....I'm going to bed now! merry

iv just though remember we couldnt find them on 1901 census edwin and lucy went missing well think we might have just found lucy mad one xxx

so shes a bigamist blimey so whats the next step for me if i found lucy and fredricks marriage cert it should say that lucy is a widower if she was married before and edwin died or shall i look for one of the kids birth angie xx

Not sure....there are millions of birth reg's for Jones in Birm, so it would cost a lot to find the right birth certs.....Bet there isn't a marriage cert...........I expect the ''Cardiff'' for Lucy's birth is just a mistake...........copied from Frederick Jones. I have seen him on the 1881 census, a 36 year old lodger in Birm (baker) single !! But can't see them in 1891 Grrr! Are you SURE this is the other side of your tree?? well they all connected through marriage rodds/jones and hardman the brides and the grooms all seem to have these surnames connected to them well what a family to have but very exciting nite nite angie xx

Can you explain how you are related to these people?? Firstly.....Edwin Rodds and Lucy Hardman had a son Frederick Rodds who married Ada..........how do we then get to you? Secondly.........the same Lucy Hardman, now living with Frederick Jones and a bunch of Jones children (which may or may not be Lucy's kids)...........how do we get to you from this couple?? lol merry speaking very s.l.o.w my birth mother is janet rodds my nan edith rodds married william jones in 1951 not janets dad my great gran ada married frederick rodds he died and she married george evan jones in 1920 fredrick rodds parents were edwin rodds and lucy hardman they were my gggrand parents edwins mother was ellen rodds his father was frederick woods they never married he was married to some one else when edwin was born iv just looked at frederick and adas marriage cert and one of the wittnesses is a elsie jones she is on the 1881 census with lucy jones ne hardman take a look hope some one can sort this out hugs angie

OK...I follow that alright! But you did say, when you began on this thread that the 1901 people (ie frederick Jones, ''wife'' Lucy, and mo-in-law, Jane Hardman) were connected to the ''other side'' of your tree. When you first found them, I thought you believed they were nothing to do with the Rodds side, because Lucy was said to be born in Cardiff............so how are they related to you otherwise?? I did also wonder if the George Jones who Mrs Ada Rodds married after Frederick Rodds was killed, was her half-brother-in-law (ie the Georgy Jones aged 12 who is on the 1901 census).....but maybe that's too easy? ada rodds and george jones both lived at same address when married and its the house that ada shared with her first husband frederick angiexxxx

i just dont know were to go with all this merry i see no way forward with this tree i think ill have to resigne myself that lucy was married to 2 men at same time and that lucy and frederick jones lied on the census when they said they were born in wales angie xx

I think frederic Jones was born in Wales, as he says so in both 1881 and 1901. Lucy having Cardiff in 1901 is probably just a copying error from the enumerator. When you say you should give up.......I can't see what you mean really?? This part of your tree is made much more interesting with all this ''soap opera'' going on!! The only frustration I would have is not knowing if all those Jones children belong to Lucy or not. I don't think Lucy ever committed bigamy....(can't see a marriage as Rodds or Hardman). I think she just lived with Frederick Jones. I wonder what happened to Edwin Rodds though?? Maybe he left the country? Looked in various asylums etc....no joy there either! Merry

Angela - suggestion for you, forget you were ever adopted and change to your adoptive family tree! Actually I take my hat of to you- you are far further back with your than i am, but mine did come from Ireland! Oh and my birth father was married to 3 women one after the other and never divorced any of them!!

hello merry and jess merry i do have the marriage cert of lucy and edwin i think your right about frederick coming from wales my other fredericks surnames are woods and rodds he is my first frederick jones id love to know were edwin went and if frederick jones and lucy ever did marry jess i do have my adopted tree aswell i have my mom and dads birth certs and marriage certs my dads war papers which my mum kept and my grandads war papers aswell.my adopted parents were old enough to be my grandparents and were 76 when they both died im 39 i feel very blessed that i have a lot of info on my adopted family i also feel very proud of what i and the people who have helped me find out about my birth mothers side of the family,as i had no one to ask.and i had the difficult task of finding out my birth mothers real birth name as i knew it was different from the one on my birth cert my birth mother became a jones at the age of 4 when her mother married a jones but her birth name was rodds angie xx

Angela- you should feel proud! Its hard enough with what you do know. we'll get there evntually (YES Merry we WILL.....or you will probably!) angela dont ever give up!!
