I don't think we know for certain! I wouldn't worry about it too much. Try getting the 1888 birth cert for george E Jones and maybe the address on it will match up with something in 1891? Merry

Yes, George (1888) is the eldest on the 1901 census (down as Georgy aged 12). They are elusive in 1891!! Lucy was incorrectly entered as born Cardiff in 1901. Maybe you can find them in 1891, Jess? A little nighttime project for you??! Merry

The Bag

The Bag Report 6 Dec 2005 23:21

so when was the first child born to Lucy and the new hubby then? 1888?

Merry

Merry Report 6 Dec 2005 23:12

Calm down Angie!! No, the birth cert will only tell you that Frederick Jones, the father, was a baker!!. (unless it says, ''A Welsh baker'' LOL)....I expect the cert will suggest that Frederick and Lucy (if she IS the mum) were married, but I don't think they had actually had a ceremony! It will be very interesting to see if the name Rodds gets a mention. If Lucy was pretending to have been widowed from Edwin and then officially married to Frederick, her child's birth cert should read, for the mother: Lucy Jones, late Rodds, formerly Hardman. When's the cert due to arrive???!! Merry

o my god your a genius i luv you lol iv got to send for it now yes his middle name was evan big hugs for you merry xxxxx

Merry

Merry Report 6 Dec 2005 22:06

Did you say before, that the man Ada married the second time - George Jones - had a middle name?? Was it Evans or something similar?? You could check the birth indexes for George's birth to confirm the middle name. If you can find a birth reg with the right middle name then you could also get the birth cert to check that Lucy was the mother. (I remember George Jones was the eldest of these Jones children, so if Lucy is his mum she should be the mum to all of them!!) Five minutes later......... I just looked at the infamous Q4 1888, as this is a lone quarter that hasn't been transcribed by freeBMD. Surprise, surprise, I think this may be YOUR George Jones!: George Evan Jones - 1888 Q4 Aston District, 6d 272 So it was Evan, not Evans?!?!?! That's spent another £7 for you, just before Christmas! Merry
