I am a paid member of the following South African site. They allow non members partial access. If you go to the NAAIRS Help Guidelines Page, it will explain how to search the archives. Or proceed directly to the ' Search National Automated Archival Information Retrieval System.' Select the Depot that you require to do your search, i.e. KAB stands for Cape Town and in the first line type in the surname you are looking for and hopefully a list of names will appear. If it is a very common name, and there is pages and pages of names, type the christian name in the first line and the surname in the second line. If nothing comes up try searching in Non Public Records. If I have managed to confuse you even more let me know who you are looking for and I will see what I can find. Just so that you know it is impossible to get into the archives this afternoon as they are overloaded. Happy hunting! Lindy ;-))))))))
