Firstly thanks to everyone who helped!! I have managed to find my Grandfathers siblins. There was 8 of them (So much for there only being 5 or 6!! lol). John W (Likely to be William), born Gateshead - Mother Yallop - Jan, Feb, Mar 1923 Joseph Peter, born Gateshead - Mother Yallop - Apr, May, Jun 1924 Elizabeth, born Gateshead - Mother Yallop - Jan, Feb, Mar 1926 Mary, born Gateshead - Mother Yallop - Oct, Nov, Dec 1927 Margaret, born Gateshead - Mother Yallop - `Apr, May, Jun 1929 Eleanor, born Gateshead - Mother Yallop - Jul,Aug, Sept 1930 David Campbell, born Gateshead - Mother Yallop - Jan, Feb, Mar 1932 Ann, born Gateshead - Mother Yallop - Jul, Aug, Sept 1933 It seems that William Gibson and Mary Yallop were indeed my Great Grandparents. The only problem is that nobody has heard of Margaret or Eleanor, I mean I know there are loads or possiblitys of why. I have checked death records and cannot find them, however that would be correct if they were still born. (I know this because I dad's twin brother was still born and there are no birth or death records for him).

Hi kate, I have already made a start on looking though the birth records. It looks very much like an error was made in the order of my grandfather and his siblins.

Julie, all I can say again is if I were you I would go through the births from 1922 onwards and pick out all the Gibson / Yallop ones. Suppose you find six altogether, and you show the list to one of your relatives and they say all the names are right but in the wrong order? It's just that it is so easy to go through the birth indexes, so that is definitely what I would advise you do next. Kate.

Hi Julie, The only way to be sure it is the right marriage would be to send for Joseph Peter Gibson's birth certificate and confirm mothers and fathers names. However Yallop isn't a very common name and after checking 1914-1924 that was the only Yallop-gibson marriage I found. Good luck and if I can help further please ask. Fiona.

Hi Kate The problem is that my Dad keeps saying his Dad was 4th of 6 however my Mam says she thinks that 'Ann' (one of Joseph's sisters) was younger than Joseph. I have very limited contact with my dad's side of the family so don't really have anyone else to get the info from. My Dad may be correct and after all they are his Aunts and Uncles so therefor be better informed than my Mam. I think I'd better check again. Huh...families who'd have 'em!!! lol :D

It seems too much of a coincidence for it not to be them. If I were you I would trawl through the birth indexes looking for births with surname Gibson and mother's maiden name Yallop between Dec 1922 and 1932 to see how many you find altogether, and whether any of the other names ring a bell! Is it possible that somebody has got their facts muddled up? Kate.

Yes that is him. He died Feb 1983. Thanks for that.

Julie

Julie Report 15 Feb 2006 23:02

1922 to 1924 (inclusive) is three years... easy enough to have three children in that time!

Hi FC, Thanks again for the help. Unfortunatly Mary E Yallop and Wiliam can not be my Great Grandparents. I didn't realise untill I checked that my Granda (Joseph Gibson) was the 4th of 6 children and as none of them were born out of marrage it would be quite impossible (unless the other 3 chrildren were triples which they weren't) for them to have had 3 children between 1922 and 1924. It's a pitty I thought I had it cracked, oh well back to the drawing board.....lol. Also thanks to everyone who helped out last night by searching on my behalf and offering very helpfull advice. It was very much appreciated. Julie

Hi FC. That looks right. I know the bith year is different from what I said, but the death record matches perfectly. Just as a cross referance if it isn't too much troble could you please see if there is a David Campbell Gibson listed being born 1931 and dying in Feb 1983? Big thank you!!!!

Julie Report 14 Feb 2006 22:53

Hi Suzanne, I am 100% certain on the date and middle name. I guess the middle name could have been added after the birth was registered. That happened with my Aunt.

Thanks Jess Have just asked my Dad if his Grandmothers maiden name could have been Grey, he says it sounds familiar. So I think that is propably the right Joesph Peter Gibson. I was hoping for a very unsuall name! LOL. Oh well...... If it isn't too much of a cheek could you please check for a David Campbell Gibson born 1931, also in Gateshead. He is Joesph's youngest brother. To see if his mother also comes up as Grey. Thanks again.
