You can look up all the census from 1851 (shortly 1841aswell) - 1901 by getting a sub on ancestry.

Leanne

Leanne Report 18 Feb 2006 23:49

Jess - the recent family were in Bishopstoke in Hampshire. Bagshot Manor may have been in Chobham in Surrey. How are you finding the information? Can I look up stuff? How? Thank you!!!

Heather

Heather Report 18 Feb 2006 23:48

I cant see how anyone could pursue this hobby without ancestry. We can do in days what it once took people years to look up. Meanwhile, no trace of any Bagshots in Surrey.

hi leanne i was cautious about signing to ancestry as i thought it was alot of money, but i would advise it. they have a 30 day free trial at the moment so give it a go. i have found it really helpful as it opens up far more leads.

Leanne

Leanne Report 18 Feb 2006 23:43

You're all really kind! Her name is Kate Bagshot, born circa 1870, married a Mr Bridle and they had a daughter Annie Bridle circa 1895 but don't know if they had any more children. Bagshot in Surrey. Thanks for any help/advice!

If you post the name you are sure of, together with birthplace and approx year of birth, we'll see what we can find. Reg

Kate Report 18 Feb 2006 23:26

If you can get their child's birth or marriage certificate (presumably your great-grandmother or great-grandfather) it will give the father's full name, and then you will be able to look for the marriage of your great-great-grandparents, and so on. Kate.
